The codeplug can be read from a pager connected to your computer with an Infrared (IR) Serial Adapter or from a PC File Template stored on your computer's hard disk. 

When you read a codeplug, the fields on each of the screens will be filled in with the settings read from the pager or a PC File Template. After reading a codeplug, you can use the PPS to make changes to the settings and re-program the pager or create a new PC File Template with the new settings.
